The sudden life changes that result after a spinal cord injury are overwhelming. Paraplegics have loss of motor and sensation in the lower extremities along with incontinence of urine and stool. Quadriplegics have motor and sensory loss of both the lower and upper extremities and urinary and bowel incontinence. Some improvement may occur after intensive rehabilitation and physical therapy.
However, the patient remains with marked limitations in every day activities and work related situations.
Treatment by StemCellRegenMed consists of the following:
-> Neurogenesis stimulating niches of stem cells in the spinal cord injury area via the use of specific oral and injectable agents.
-> Immortalized neuron stem cells mixed with neuropeptide, neurotrophins, nerve cell factor, vascular endothelial growth factor are administered into the spinal canal at the site of injury.
-> Following treatment, patients must receive intensive rehabilitation and physical therapy five to six times a week. An electric stimulation bike that enables and encourages the patient to pedal by themselves is one such example.
